Sauna infusion

The sauna infusion - the supreme discipline of sauna bathing

An infusion is much more than just pouring water over hot stones: it is a ritual, an art form and - if carried out correctly - an experience with a noticeable effect on body and mind. In modern saunas, the infusion has become a central element of guest care and quality assurance.

What happens during an infusion?
During a sauna infusion, water - often mixed with natural essential oils - is poured onto the hot stones of the sauna heater in precisely measured quantities. The resulting steam temporarily increases the humidity and intensifies the sensation of warmth. The hot steam is distributed evenly throughout the room by swirling the air with a towel - a process that is carried out safely and professionally by trained staff.

Procedure of a standardized infusion
There are fixed procedures for a high-quality and healthy infusion:
   - Welcoming the guests and informing them about the process, duration and fragrances used
   - Carried out in 1-3 rounds, each with approx. 1 minute of infusion and 1-3 minutes of waving
   - Use precisely dosed infusion water
   - Short breaks between rounds for regeneration

The entire infusion should not exceed the maximum recommended length of stay in the sauna (approx. 15 minutes).

Fragrances: Effect or wellness?
Essential oils in the infusion water have no proven medical effect - this has been confirmed by scientific studies. Their strength lies in their psychological and emotional effect: scents can awaken memories, increase well-being and contribute to relaxation.
It is important to note that all fragrances used must be carefully dosed and suitable for use in the sauna. Allergy sufferers should be informed about the fragrance in advance to avoid possible reactions.

Training ensures safety and quality
The infusion may only be carried out by trained personnel. In addition to technical knowledge, empathy, communication skills and a sense of responsibility are also required. Our online course teaches:
   - The basics of thermophysiology
   - Safe and hygienic infusion procedures
   - Dealing with guests and emergency situations
   - Selection and effect of fragrances
